Helpful Travel Tips
..............................................
Using the phone in Europe can get confusing at times. Once you have the codes down, you can do it pretty easily. Below are some basic calling instruction, followed by a chart of European Country Codes. Enjoy!
Making International Calls to the United States from Europe ::
In order to call America from any European country, you need to dial:
00 ( Europe’s International Access Code) + 1 ( America’s Country Code) + the Number.
Example: to call your mother in FL (tel. 239.555.1234) from Europe, dial:
00 + 1 + 239.555.1234
Making an International Call to Europe from the United States or Canada ::
In order to call a European Country from the United States, you need to dial:
011 ( America’s International Access Code) + the Country Code (see chart below) + the Number.
Example : If you would like to call a Paris Hotel (tel. 01 47 03 25 34) from the United States, dial:
011 + 33 ( France’s Country Code) + 01.47.03.25.34
Making International Calls Within Europe ::
The simple way to explain making an international call is to dial:
the international access code + the country code + the phone number.
You always start with the international access code. If you are calling from almost anywhere else in Europe the access code is 00.
Then dial the country code of the country you are calling (see country code chart below) followed by the phone number you would like to call.
Example: If you would like to call a Paris Hotel (tel. 01 47 03 25 34) from Rome, dial:
00 + 33 ( France’s Country Code) + 1.47.03.25.34
